Heads Up is made by 57Apps. Using it means accepting what is below. It is short on purpose.
Heads Up is free. You may use it for anything you like, personal or work, on as many devices as you own. You do not get the source code, and you may not pass it off as your own or use the 57Apps or Heads Up names for your own product.
An account is optional; the app works fully without one. If you make one, keep your password to yourself — anything done with your account is treated as done by you. You must be at least 13 years old to make one. We may suspend or remove an account that is being used to abuse the service or other people.
We claim no ownership of anything you write in Heads Up. The only permission you give us is the one the app needs to work: to store your reminders, sync them to your own devices, and show them to people you have chosen to share a list with.
Feedback you send through the app is the one thing you write that is meant for us to read. We use it to answer you and to improve Heads Up, and nothing else; it is not published, and a change we make because of it does not become yours or stop being ours. Don't put anything confidential in it — it is a message to a person, not a secure channel. The privacy policy lists exactly what a message carries.
We do not sell your content, publish it, or use it to train machine learning models. If that ever changes it will require your explicit agreement first, not a quiet edit to this page.
Don't use Heads Up to do anything illegal, to send unwanted invitations to people who have not asked for them, or to attack the service or other people's data.
That includes the feedback form. It is deliberately open to everyone, including people with no account, because the alternative is not hearing from most of the people who have something to say. It is not rate-limited per person and it collects nothing that would identify who is using it — so if it is abused, the only remedy is to switch it off for everyone for a while. We would rather not.
When you invite someone to a list, your email address becomes visible to everyone on it, and theirs becomes visible to you. You are responsible for who you invite. The privacy policy explains exactly what that exposes.
This one matters more than the rest, so it is not written as boilerplate.
Heads Up asks Android to deliver your reminders. It cannot make Android do it. A reminder can be delayed or missed because the phone was off, or in Doze, or because the manufacturer's battery software decided to stop the app, or because the exact-alarm permission was withdrawn, or for any other reason outside this app's control. The app does what it can — that is what the exact-alarm and battery-optimisation settings are for — and it still cannot promise.
Do not rely on Heads Up for anything where a missed reminder would be serious. Medication, medical appointments, legal deadlines: use something with a guarantee, or use Heads Up alongside one.
The app is free and comes with no uptime promise. Syncing may be unavailable at times; the app keeps working offline when it is, and catches up afterwards. If the sync service is ever discontinued, we will give reasonable notice and a way to get your data out first.
The app will change. These terms may change with it; the date at the top moves when they do. If a change materially affects your rights, we will say so in the app.
You can stop using Heads Up whenever you like, and delete your account from inside the app. We may end your access if you break these terms in a way that harms the service or other people.
Heads Up is provided as is, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. To the extent the law allows, 57Apps is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss arising from a reminder that did not arrive.
Nothing here removes rights you have that cannot be waived. Many countries — including everywhere in the EU and the UK — give consumers guarantees that a document like this cannot sign away, and those still apply.
Google Play, Sign in with Google, Sign in with Apple and our hosting provider each have their own terms, which apply to their part of what happens.
For the iOS version: these terms are between you and 57Apps, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide support for Heads Up. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
